Here’s what I’ve been thinking about…
My grandson, Lj. What a joy to see him growing up. He’s only 18 months, but already we can see his personality, see God’s design in him. He walks, he is intensely curious. He’s starting to talk with simple words. He is Mr. Social– loves going into restaurants and smiling at all those around him. Not a shy bone in him. Even at this young age, he can “own the room”! I’m so grateful that he lives nearby so I can be a part of his life. I’m so proud of my daughter Bethany and Josh–they are becoming excellent parents. I’m blessed.
Being a grandparent is so different from being a parent. I know that Denise and I have just one job-spoil that kid!! Just kidding. Kinda. But it’s fun to have the fun of being with Lj, and not having to be the primary caretaker. So much fun.
Life is good. God is good.
There are people who are making lots of $$ and gaining lots of notoriety by claiming the opposite–“Times are bad, everything is falling apart, run to the hills!” Now I am not so naïve as to be unaware of the challenges ahead of us–yes, much about life today is troubling, even dark. But, when I see that grandson of mine break into a broad grin when he sees me, when I hear him say “poppa,” when I walk into the room, when I see the wonderful family they are building, I am compelled to acknowledge:
God is Good. There is still much to be thankful for. God is on the throne. He remains “in charge”.
Listen, don’t be afraid, it’s going to be O.K.
Psalm 63:3-4 “Because Your lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise you. Thus, I will bless you while I live; I will lift up my hands in your name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth shall praise you with joyful lips.”
